1st OLYMPIC GEPs

Here is a brief summary of the Olympic GEPs were held on November 3rd (2017).

Puiggraciós School sixth year students and our students at first year of ESO raced with language and sport tests during a morning.

Physical tests such as athletics, and language tests such as spelling were held among many others.

There were only 2 conditions:

Speak English and Have Fun!

EGG DROP COMPETITION

The problem is simple enough. You’ve got a raw egg, and it’s going to be dropped from a high place. You have to invent and build a construction so that it doesn’t break when it hits the floor. Easy? Maybe. But how do you make it as light as possible?

This activity will not only help you sound smart when your teacher asks you how you came up with it, but it will also hopefully inspire you to try something original that’s based on this principle:

Create a structure to reduce the deceleration, by increasing the time interval while preventing the egg from crashing.

Let’s see some of the best examples!

GAUDÍ LITTLE PROJECT

Taking advantage of the visit to La Pedrera in Barcelona, 3rd ESO students have elaborated a small story from knowing the structures of Gaudí to its realization in the workshop.

3rd ERASMUS+ meeting in Aachen: OUR FUTURE JOB

Should all secondary students have work experience in the real world????

In our school we are more than 500 students and apart from doing the traditional General Certificate of Secondary Education and A levels, we have two vocational studies: administrative work and carpentry.

VOCATIONAL STUDIES: CARPENTRY

One of our carpentry students explains in this video what they do and learn to become future carpenters.

VOCATIONAL STUDIES: ADMINISTRATIVE WORK

This is the second vocational study that we teach in our high school:

HOW DO WE ORIENTATE OUR STUDENTS?

In the Eramsus+ meeting in Aachen, Germany, we explained how our teachers give academic guidance to students.

STUDENTS SPEAK ABOUT THEIR FUTURE CAREERS...

In our school there is a group of 15 and 16 y.o. students who do a curriculum which includes hours of apprenticeship in different companies along the school year. We asked them if they knew what they wanted to study in the future and if they knew where they had to go to do it. These are their answers.

We also did a survey asking the same questions to students in A levels, vocational studies and students in their last 2 years of secondary school.
